Seaside was founded in 1981 and was the first new urbanist town. The 80 acre neighborhood contains homes, townhomes, condos, restaurants, shops, and a middle school. Walk To The Beach & Restaurants
Rainy days at the beach are the last thing vacationers want after waiting all year long for a break from the real world, unless you need a day to escape the sun. Playing board games, working on a puzzle, reading books, or watching movies in a rental house or condo can only last for so long. Several rainy days in a row at the beach can be tough.
Some people use rainy days to go shopping at the Silver Sands Outlet Mall or bowling at Uncle Bucks next to the Bass Pro Shop in Destin. You can also go to the Dave & Busters in Pier Park or the Grand Boulevard movie theater. You can always contact me to find your own 30A beach home or income producing property.
My family’s favorite thing to do on rainy days is to visit the Grayton Beer Company Taproom, which is only open from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday and Friday and from 12pm to 6pm on Saturdays. The taproom is a large open warehouse, where food is served along with freshly brewed beer. Live music is played on Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm. Dart boards and corn hole are also available as you enjoy your different options of Grayton Beer. This past Saturday, our two year old girl had a great time dancing to the live music and playing cornhole, while we chatted with locals and visitors from out of town.

The Rise and Decline of the Redneck Riviera
Finding the perfect beach read is essential to a great South Walton beach vacation. This book is for you! The Rise and Decline of the Redneck Riviera explains the history of the emerald coast from Gulf Shores to Panama City starting in the late 1800’s until the BP oil spill in 2010. The author, Harvey Jackson, is a neighbor of mine in Old Seagrove. He is a wonderful story teller. The book is interesting and entertaining.

Seaside Florida Beach Flag
Beach Flag Status and Live Beach Cams: For those of us who are not fortunate enough to live on the gulf or have a view of it, the Beach Flag Status and Live Beach Cams are a great thing to view before you make the walk, bike ride, or drive to the beach. There have been a few times I have walked to the beach with my two young children, and the double red flags are up, so we walk back home as my kids are disappointed. I now check this app every time before heading to the beach.
30a Songwriters Festival
Events: As you know, there are many events taking place at all times along 30A. When my wife and I are discussing what to do that evening or next weekend when we have friends in town, this app is a great resource to make a plan. The app shows local events as far as two weeks out, and gives you a daily schedule showing what events are taking place from the East end of Destin to Rosemary Beach.
30A Radio: If you are already at the beach or dreaming of being there, 30A Radio is for you. Their streaming music will put you in a great mood. We enjoy listening to 30A radio at the beach and even at home during the afternoons and evenings.
